Daniel Spoerri and Jim Dines

A swiss artist and writer, Spoerri is best known for his "snare-pictures," a type of assembled or object art, in which he captures a group of objects, such as the remains of meals eaten by individuals, including the plates, silverware and glasses, all of which are fixed to the table or board, which is then displayed on a wall.

Spoerri's art work is most defiantly eye catching and unique, I find his work interesting to look at and it relates to this Assignment as everything in his art work is used on an everyday basis.

Jim Dine an American pop artist, best known for his pop art and being part of the Neo-Dada movement, Dine was also know for his painting, drawing and sculptures in the early 1960s Dine began attaching objects, particularly tool to his canvases incorporating paint cans. paint brushes, a screwdriver and a piece of wood, this pop art provided commercial as well as critical success.

Jim Dines work is simplistic, yet I find it quite interesting to look at, as Dine has used tools through out a lot of his paints and some elements of cutlery I feel his work is quite fitting to my everyday objects.

Comparing both Daniel Spoerri's art work and Jim Dines, although Spoerri's work has a lot going on I feel Dines work is easy on the eye with the subtle tones used, and the simplicity of the way the objects have been placed, I definitely prefer Dines pop art to spoerri's work, although Spoerri's use of colour is quite eye catching.
